Noel Mazade

Prior to arriving at UNC in late 2015, Noel’s prior leadership positions included founding executive director, National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors Research Institute, Inc., Program Director at the National Institute of Mental Health, Director of the North Carolina Mental Health Legislative Study Commission, Program Director at the Oakland County, MI, Mental Health Services Board, and Founding Executive Director of the Delaware Dispute Center.

His academic appointments in departments of psychiatry, public health, and social work have included the University of Maryland, Johns Hopkins, and Harvard University, among others. He has taught in diverse fields encompassing nonprofit leadership, social welfare policy, and conflict resolution.

Noel is an experienced mediator, conflict management trainer, dispute resolution systems designer, and practitioner with professional practice in the District of Columbia Superior Court; two family mediation practices; and founding co-director of Advanced Dispute Resolution Systems, LLC in the Washington, DC region.

Noel holds a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work, a M.S.W. from the University of Michigan School of Social Work, and a M.S.Hyg from the University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health
